The Germantown View neighborhood, also known as Seneca Forest, is located in heart of Germantown, Maryland. It extends on both sides of Great Seneca Hwy at the intersection of Dawson Farms. This established neighborhood offers a great commuting location with easy access to I-270 and public transportation, shops and restaurants, and great schools.
Built between 1982 and 1985 the neighborhood is comprised of approximately 420 townhomes, some with garages, lofts and all have three levels. There are about 3 different basic floor plans with an average of 1800 square feet of living space.
.
Originally sold for between $68,000 and $85,000 when first built these homes soared in value during the 1995 real estate boom and sold as high as $365,000 for the larger and upgraded models. Today you can find a nice updated home in this neighborhood for around $260,000 and a bank owned in the low 200s. This neighborhood is an affordable alternative and offers a good value for the money.
It is also worth mentioning that even with the real estate market drop in value over the last three years, owning a home is still the best long term investment for your money. If you have any doubts notice that today’s values are still three times the original purchase price owners paid for their home 25 years ago.
